Tea Clipper could put his unbeaten record on the line in the Matchbook Holloway’s Handicap Hurdle at Ascot on Saturday week.

A winner of his only start in the point-to-point sphere, the Stowaway gelding has made a big impression in winning each of his three starts under Rules this season.

After making a successful hurdling debut at Warwick in early October, the five-year-old followed up in impressive style at Kempton before completing his hat-trick at Huntingdon last month.

Trainer Tom Lacey considered a return to Warwick for Saturday’s Ballymore Leamington Novices’ Hurdle, but ultimately decided against an outing in that Grade Two contest due to unsuitable ground conditions.

Lacey said: “He doesn’t run at Warwick as I felt the ground on the hurdle track would be too tacky for him.

“He’s fine and he could go to Ascot for the £50,000 handicap hurdle, although again we’ll be governed by ground conditions.”
